BOOK REVIEW: Captivate by Vanessa Van Edwards

BOOK REVIEW: Captivate - The science of succeeding with people, by Vanessa Van Edwards ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ“ˆ

One of the well known statistics for career success is that up to 85% comes from well developed people skills, with only 15% coming from technical knowledge. ๐Ÿคฏ Yes you need the technical skill to reach the minimum entry requirements for your role, but once in the job, it is excellent people skills that will see you rise to the top! ๐Ÿ’ก

Within her book, Vanessa breaks down the levels of making an excellent first impression into 'The first 5 minutes', 'The first 5 hours' and 'the first 5 days' ... but in the process gives a roadmap to help engage with your audience on THEIR level.

This book helps you speed-read people's personality types and learn how THEY like communicate, in order to build stronger relationships with people in work or your personal life, and get the best out of your team. ๐Ÿคฉ

Throughout the 285 pages Vanessa shares some wonderful techniques built on real world knowledge and experience from her day job at the Science of People lab, and is well worth your time reading.

As someone actively interested in the topic I found it both useful and insightful, gaining skills I can implement straight away. 9/10 ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

I discovered Vanessa's work after seeing this excellent interview from Impact Theory. Well worth a watch (plus it also tells you all about the techniques in the book): https://lnkd.in/dWSV4tsU

CAN'T WAIT FOR THE SEQUEL!
