The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell is a book based around why certain things 'tip' into going viral.
Well written with a huge body of evidence behind it, Gladwell ticks all of the boxes in explaining strange phenomena and the real and sometimes surprising things which cause them - very similar to Freakonomics, if you have read that. 🤔
One takeaway is that you can make real and sustainable change within your business through enforcing the small things.
They discuss how New York city crime was massively reduced through making people pay for the subway and cleaning up graffiti (and the knock on effect this had). For business you can relate this to how you view the small things like getting visitors to sign in the visitor book (or any item which affects everyone but is sometimes overlooked) and if enforced the huge impact this could have across your organisation for how seriously people take the big things! To make real change; small, regular and enforced behaviours are best and you can apply this to anything.
There were 3-4 other quality takeaways too which I am going to bring into my own work.
At 278 pages the book itself is good, but not a must-read for most people.
